Archibald Cronin was born in 1896 in Dumbatoshir, Scotland. As a student he was attracted to literature and he also won a gold medal for best design in all schools in England at the age of 13 years. But, he had a strong passion for natural sciences and after finishing high school he started studying at the Faculty of Medicine. In 1925 the University of Glasgow awarded him the title of Doctor of Medical Sciences. In 1926 the doctor from Wales moved to London and became known throughout London. But A. Kronini is seriously ill and returns to his beloved Scotland. There, his passion for literature is revived.
