Rexhep Qosja was born on June 25, 1936 in Vuthaj in Kelmendi, Montenegro, he is an Albanian academic. He completed the first four grades of primary school in Vuthaj, and the semester of high school in Guci. He finished normal school in Prishtina. In 1964 he graduated from the Language and Literature department of the University of Prishtina. He completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Belgrade, Belgrade, where in 1971 he received the title “Doctor of Philological Sciences” with the topic “Asdreni-life and works”. He was a researcher at the Albanological Institute of the University of Prishtina and director of this Institute from 1972 to 1981. He is the author of over thirty books with studies on literature and literary criticism, artistic prose, stories, novels and dramas, journalism and controversial writings. published reviews, reviews, articles, essays, treatments and studies in scientific and literary journals, addressing in them specific issues of Albanian literature and literary creativity in general. Some of his works and works have been translated into other languages.
For his scientific and literary creativity he was awarded the: Prize of the city of Prishtina, in 1968; with the Provincial Award of December 1969; with two awards of SHSH of Kosovo, in 1972 and 1974 and with the Award of RS of Serbia – July 7, 1975, with the Prize “Pjetër Bogdani”, 2010 for the novel “Sons of no one”, Gjilan Literary Prize – Beqir Musliu, on June 22, 2012 handed over to academician Rexhep Qosja. He is also involved in political activities; in the period 1998-2000 he led a political party in Kosovo. In 2000, the President of the Republic of Albania awarded him the “Honor of the Nation” award. Qosja is a regular member of ASHA Kosovo.
In his literary creativity stands out the novel “Death comes to me from such eyes”, which has been translated into several foreign languages and for which the author is described as the Skull of the East. The main field of his studies is the history of Albanian literature, to which he has dedicated a series of generalizing works. He is the author of many critical and journalistic writings, several plays and essays.
Rexhep Qosja has published a number of works on the Albanian national issue} in which the history and strategy of national unity, the road to freedom and democracy, are treated in depth.
His latest novel “A love and seven faults” is a chronological continuation of the work “Death comes to me from such eyes” and is part of the trilogy which reflects the fate of the Albanian intellectual in the most culminating events in the history of Kosovo in the last decades of XX century.
